Nimera is built local-first, cloud-assisted. Here's exactly what that means, and how access to your home is controlled.
Commands run over your home network directly to your hub whenever possible. Lights, locks, and scenes respond without needing our servers. When you're away from home, a secure cloud path keeps you connected. The system automatically detects which path is available and switches between them without you noticing. If your internet drops while you're home, local control keeps working uninterrupted.
Being connected to your home Wi-Fi does not grant access to your home. Each phone, tablet, or device that controls Nimera is individually enrolled with its own cryptographic credentials. An unrecognized device on your network gets nothing.
Communication between your devices, our cloud, and your hub is encrypted end-to-end. Commands carry a unique identifier, so a network hiccup or retry can never cause an action, like unlocking a door, to happen twice.
Not everyone in your household needs the same level of access. Owners, family members, staff, and guests are assigned roles that determine exactly what they can see and control. Guest access is scoped to individual devices and expires automatically at the end of a stay, with no manual cleanup required and no lingering access after checkout.
Every command is checked against two independent rules before it runs: what devices a person has access to, and how consequential the action is. A guest with access to a door lock, for example, may be able to lock it but not unlock it, unless that's deliberately granted.
